Leadership for the 21st century

Germany faces many challenges at the verge of the new century. It is necessary to make Germany fit for the tasks of the coming decades.

The CDU stands for a modern and efficient, but also human society, in which our people's creativity and talents in science and technology, in trade and in the producing industry, in craftsmanship and in the service industry including public service can develop.

We stand for a fair and social society which serves the common good. We want to put the economy into the service of the individuals and of society, including the preservation of our environment. Our economic and social model is the "ecological and social market economy".

Germany's future is closely connected with the European Union. We want an effective Political Union on the world stage working closely together with the United States of America to further peace, freedom, democracy, and prosperity on our common globe.
